In 2016 I taught two Level 1 English classes and I feel very pleased with my learners’ results. I think these results reflect my excitement about teaching at a new school, with new learners and a new novel study. It was my first time teaching the novel Paper Towns by John Green and I really enjoyed it. I retaught the film Slumdog Millionaire and I wasn’t as excited about teaching this film, so it shows in the results. Overall, the internal results are very pleasing, and I am happy with the external results.

I will not be teaching Level 1 English this  year, but I am lucky to be teaching two Level 2 English R/W classes, so I have a lot of learners from my 2016 Level 1 classes in my new classes. I anticipate that this will make our lessons easier because I have already established (mainly) positive relationships with these students and they understand how to navigate google sites, which is where I keep my resources.

I’m hoping that by teaching new texts and a whole new level, my results will not slack off, I would like to either maintain, or improve upon results this year. It’s a new year, with new excitement. My biggest goal is to keep students on track; one of my classes has 35 students and one has 27. The numbers are massive and the standards are new to me. I haven’t taught Level 2 English for a while, but I am looking forward to a new challenge.

Ideas I have for TAI – keep the site updated, be thorough with the task expectations and get to know my learners. Students who struggle, I’m going to try and nail with good, positive energy.
